How biowriters.NET began
The
biowriters.NET mission
Thank You Notes
How biowriters.NET began
The concept: biowriters.NET actually developed in
stages, not all at once. Launched by
Suzanne Warden in 2004, the concept of biowriters.NET began as a database
that would collect fun facts and basic biographical data from people as an
online entertainment vehicle. The very first version of the concept, in
late 2002, was a Word Document with 50 questions in it. Having read
biographies since she was five (according to Mom), and having dabbled in
genealogy research, she thought an online "bio-database" would be fun
and a potentially important resource for future generations. After
discussing the concept with her friend Kath, the concept "turned a
page" and became an entirely new approach to the biography. A new
literary model and business concept was born.
The founder: Prior to biowriters.NET,
Suzanne Warden spent fifteen years in the media production and ad agency worlds
developing custom communication pieces and campaigns for various clients.
Suzanne worked in various media including: video, film, print, audio,
interactive, and internet. Although advertising and marketing campaigns
were her primary focus, she also worked on media relations and employee
training programs.
During
downtime, Suzanne is a media junkie -- reading 2-3 newspapers daily and
every biography she can get her hands on or see on A&E. She is an avid
diarist and admitted writer of truly awful poetry and song lyrics that will
never see the light of day.

Notes
This is horribly sentimental, but biowriters.NET has its
foundation somewhere in sentiment, so here it goes:
Sometimes a thought takes on a life of its own. Sometimes
a project that starts out as "fun" challenges you to rise above limits you never knew you had. "It's
either easy, or it's impossible"...but it's always worth it, no?
Thanks so much to these and many others for their belief in the potential of
biowriters.NET. After all of our labor, I hope we're all absolutely
right.
My husband: Your belief in me is sometimes unbearable, and
your patience is boundless (so far). Thank you for being my friend and
partner in crime. I love you.
My children: You are both beauty and inspiration incarnate. I
so look forward to learning more from you.
Without you both, I never would have attempted this, let alone gotten it
off the ground.
My family and friends: Thank you for believing in the
concept, for helping me proof my work, and for giving me nothing but
constructive input since the whole thing began.
My partners: JLH, MG, KAP, and DF, thank you for all
your hard work and for putting up with me - on weekends, after hours...you are
all incredible, and I hope to pay you all handsomely someday.
GCMI: The Greater Cincinnati MicroEnterprise
Initiative, and Mr. Willie Hill -- thankyouthankyouthankyou!
Thank you for believing in biowriters.NET and putting your agency's money where
your belief is. Thank you, Willie, for your patience and invaluable
input, it has been greatly appreciated.
My unknowing inspirations: The builder of
the library at Alexandria,
whoever you were...thanks for the inspiration. It's a long story.
Mr. JW, somewhere in the UK: Thank you for
your generosity -- your wise words, your musical genius, and for your
frailty, faith and fortitude in the wake of life's cruelty. You
helped me to keep my eyes looking forward and toward the positive.
Thanks.
